Cultivation & Planting of all types of forage crops

A forage crop is only as good as its start. The paddock is worked up to break up the old pasture or the last crop's stubble, then levelled and firmed into a seedbed so the seed goes in at an even depth and comes up together.

That evenness matters. DairyNZ's guide to growing maize notes that maize seed is normally sown around 5 cm deep, and that an uneven soil surface makes it difficult for the planter to sow at a uniform depth, resulting in variable emergence. Good cultivation is what gives the planter an even surface to work on.

We cultivate and plant all types of forage crops, including maize. When the crop is ready, our forage harvesting brings it in as silage.

Cultivating & Planting Experts

Langman Contracting Ltd strives for maximum customer satisfaction with each and every job. To achieve this, our agricultural contractors ensure they are friendly as well as clear and upfront about the work required. The workmanship of all our agricultural contractors is always of the highest standard.

When you call, tell us the crop you plan to grow, the area, and what is in the paddock now. If you would rather renew a pasture without cultivating it, ask about undersowing and direct drilling.
